The International Conference on Information Communication Technologies in Education (ICICTE) is honoured to announce the reintroduction of the Graduate Student Paper Award, henceforth dedicated to the memory of Ludvig Spante (1999–2024).
The Ludvig Spante Graduate Student Paper Award recognises outstanding research contributions by graduate students whose work demonstrates academic rigour, originality, integrity, and a meaningful contribution to the field of Information and Communication Technologies in Education. Through this award, ICICTE seeks to encourage emerging scholars who combine scholarly excellence with generosity of spirit and respect for the academic community—qualities that characterised Ludvig Spante’s life and work.
About the Award
The award is open to graduate students submitting full research papers to ICICTE who wish to be considered for the Graduate Student Paper Award. Up to five finalists will be selected and invited to present their work at the Graduate Student Award Symposium during the conference. All finalist papers will be published in the official conference proceedings.
The recipient of the Ludvig Spante Graduate Student Paper Award will be formally announced during the Closing Ceremony of the conference and will receive an award and certificate. All finalists who present at the Closing Ceremony will receive an official citation.
Eligibility and Submission Requirements
To be eligible for the award, submissions must meet the following criteria:
- Submissions must be original research papers intended for presentation at ICICTE.
- The graduate student must be the first author and the on-site presenter of the paper.
- Only one student may be listed as first author.
- The student’s graduate supervisor may be listed as second author.
- Collaborative or multi-student research projects are not eligible for this award.
- Papers must be clearly identified at submission as intended for consideration for the Graduate Student Paper Award.
Review and Selection Process
Graduate Student Papers submitted for the award will undergo double-blind peer review by members of the Award Adjudicating Committee.
Authors of accepted proposals will be required to submit:
- the first full draft of the paper, and
- a letter of support from the graduate advisor, explaining why the paper merits consideration for the award.
Based on the submitted materials and the review process, up to five finalists will be selected and invited to present their work at the Graduate Student Award Symposium.
Publication
Finalist papers will be published, following editorial review, in the conference proceedings.
Papers submitted for the award that are not selected as finalists, but are accepted for presentation in the conference programme, will receive reviewers’ comments and be processed according to standard conference procedures.
All student papers submitted to ICICTE will also be automatically considered for inclusion in the ICICTE Selected Papers issues of contributing academic journals.
